I’ve just purged the vast majority of my Facebook friends in preparation for Facebook’s Places product launch in the UK.
I have no issue with sharing my checkins with close friends but the prospect of old acquaintances & colleagues being able to track my every move (and even tag me in locations) made me scrutinise my definition of ‘a friend’ a lot closer.
I don’t communicate with the vast majority of these pseudo-friends so I don’t think I will be losing out on a great deal, if anything i’ll be benefitting because my real-friends’ status updates are no longer drowning in a stream of noise.
If you are one of those pseudo-friends that I have deleted I hope there are no hard feelings, we are now just different people with different circles of friends. Have a nice life and perhaps our paths will cross again in the future!

Today I accidentally found out its possible to control iTunes on your Mac using hands-free earphones. This functionality works in the same way as that on iPod / iPhone.
- Single click – Play / Pause / Launch iTunes (If not open)
- Double click – Next Track / Next Album (If viewing list of albums)
- Treble click – Previous Track / Previous Album (If viewing list of albums)

On Thursday the 19th of August the EpicWin iPhone application was released to the Apple App store. EpicWin is a great to-do list application (with an RPG twist) but like most new apps it was not without a few minor bugs. So early Friday morning and the EpicWin team declared on Facebook that a bug fix had been sent to Apple for approval.

Its now Monday 23rd August and we are still waiting for this update. “It’s only been a few days” I hear you say. It’s not unlike Apple to take anywhere between one and two weeks to approve minor updates. However…
On the 19th August Facebook released v3.2.0 of it’s iPhone application complete with Places integration for US users (booo!). On Friday the App store proclaimed that Facebook v3.2.1 was waiting for my download, not a bad turnaround presuming the build was submitted after 19th August.
But wait, whats this, I log into the App store this morning and I have been blessed with yet another Facebook update, this time its build v3.2.2!
What in the blue moon is going on here?!? Facebook has 3 application releases in as many business days. Not only is it Favouritism on Apple’s part but Facebook’s buggy app is clogging up the approval process so EpicWin cannot get a look in.
Sort it out Apple, or i’ll unleash Zamma on you!

So today I started out on my 2nd attempt to master Haskell, my first attempt ended due to a busy personal schedule. No doubt this attempt will go the same way but at the minute I intend to stick with it.
